Beyeonics Vision (Haifa, Israel) announced the inaugural commercial installation of the Beyeonics ONE Digital Exoscope at Largo Ambulatory Surgery Center & Eye Institute of West Florida (EIWF).
Inspired by the head-mounted displays used in modern aviation, Beyeonics ONE is an augmented reality headset and platform with a continuous, magnified surgical field of view and multiple options for an intraoperative heads-up display, including intraoperative access to patient data.
According to Beyeonics Vision, the Beyeonics ONE Digital Exoscope offers unparalleled precision and clarity for a diverse range of ophthalmic procedures. It claims that the headset offers a zero-latency experience and head gesture-based navigation—all while reducing the common posture-related injuries facing ophthalmic surgeons worldwide.
The company hopes that these capabilities, coupled with the ergonomic advantages of headset-based surgical visualization, will empower surgeons to perform complex anterior and posterior procedures with enhanced control.
“The Beyeonics ONE Digital Exoscope is a game-changer in the field of ophthalmic surgery,” said Dr. Robert Weinstock of EIWF in a Beyeonics Vision news release on the installation.
“The Beyeonics team has made significant improvements since I last used the system. We’re excited to have it back in our OR. Its advanced features and intuitive design make it an invaluable tool for achieving exceptional surgical results.”
Miles Harper, Vice President of Commercial at Beyeonics Vision, shared Dr. Weinstock’s excitement. “We are honored to partner with Largo Ambulatory Surgery Center & Eye Institute of West Florida in introducing the Beyeonics ONE Digital Exoscope to the commercial market. Dr. Weinstock is a true innovator in the digital visualization space, and we look forward to working with him and the tremendous staff at EIWF for many years to come.”
As augmented and virtual reality technologies continue to evolve and gain widespread adoption in ophthalmology, Beyeonics ONE and its open-platform integration philosophy represents a unique approach to the future of ophthalmic surgery. The device received CE mark certification in October 2022.
