RayOne EMV: Extending Range Without Compromise

We had the pleasure of being joined by Drs. Karolinne Rocha and Michael Alterman to discuss Rayner’s RayOne EMV lens at ASCRS 2023 in San Diego. Dr. Rocha is the Director of Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Alterman is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Cataract Surgeon at Bethlehem Eye Associates in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

So, what separates this face from the rest of the IOL crowd? RayOne EMV provides a high-quality, extended range of vision without compromise. Unlike other IOLs, RayOne EMV works to enhance the natural spherical aberration of the eye for quality vision at all ranges. Dr. Alterman pointed out that in his practice, 95% of his RayOne EMV monovision patients achieve 20/20 distance vision and J3 or better near vision. Similarly, Dr. Rocha shared data from a recent clinical study where in distance-corrected intermediate vision, 87% of eyes achieved J3 or better. And in distance-corrected near vision, the study demonstrated that 77% of eyes achieved J3 or better.

Furthermore, alongside its extended range of vision, RayOne EMV is designed to provide a dysphotopsia profile similar to that of monofocal lenses, thanks to its diffraction-free design. This allows for well-tolerated night driving and activities that require intermediate vision like tablet reading or cooking.

There’s so much more to discover about RayOne EMV – so be sure to check out Rayner’s website at https://rayner.com/en/iol/rayone-emv/ for more details!
