We in industry sometimes work in an eye care bubble — which includes our office environment, conference venues, and sure, even airports — but we can be fairly removed from the care that ultimately gets to patients, particularly in developing regions. And yet the genuine reactions of Allergan’s Andrew Stewart, General Manager, Global Eye Care, to some touching World Sight Day Photo Competition winners bring us back to the cause at hand. They start about 8 minutes into this video, after some other great points, and are well worth mentioning again. Avoidable blindness isn’t always tangible during scientific sessions or boardroom meetings, but it is out there. And affected individuals need us for sight, as much as we need them to work more from the heart.
