Finding synergies in ophthalmic education between the Asia-Pacific and the Americas

The Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO) was founded in 1939 by two Americans and one Brazilian. Today, another Brazilian — now living and working in Canada — helps to break down ophthalmic geographical barriers by speaking directly to Asia-Pacific alongside the APAO. Dr. Miguel Burnier Jr. is president of the PAAO, and we have a lot to learn from him in the Asia-Pacific region how multicultural Americas ophthalmology works, and how we can collaborate globally.
